Interview with Dao

When did you know you wanted to be a hairstylist?
When I was younger I never thought of being a hairstylist or makeup artist as a career. I always knew I love hair and make-up and I felt that I have a natural talent for it.

Nothing gives me more pleasure than helping someone look and feel their best. I enrolled in cosmetology during high school and realized I can make a living doing what I love.

If you weren't a hair or make-up artist what would you do instead?
I can't think of anything else I want to pursue besides hair
and make-up, honestly.

What inspires you to keep you creative?
I listen and observe my client's vision when they explain to me how they want their hair and makeup to look like. Sometime they give me great ideas and it blossoms into something really inspiring.

I am also inspired by television shows such as: America's NextTtop Model, Fashion Televison, Salon and The Canadian Hairdresser Magazine. Staying updated on latest trends and styles is very important to staying creative and never getting boring.

Outside of hair and make up what else do you enjoy doing?
I enjoy spending time with my bestfriend Annie at Starbucks.
